Continuing
Professional
Development

Continuing professional development (CPD) is the educative means of updating, developing and enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to work safely and effectively as a physician associate. It is a practical way for individuals to enhance their skill set and ensure they continue to remain effective, capable and knowledgeable in their field.

All physician associates are currently required to fulfil CPD requirements to remain on the Irish Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register.

PA's in Ireland are required to attain a total of 50 CPD credits annually: 10 CPD credits from the Major Criteria and 40 CPD credits from the Minor Criteria

Please note: Updates and changes may be made to these standards on occasion. Physician associates on the MVR will be notified of these changes in reasonable time so that they are able to comply with the CPD requirements.
